A devastating incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday in Kano, as a two-storey building collapsed at Noman’s Land Fagge Local Government Area, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving two others injured.

Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Kano, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“We received a distress call at about 2:00 a.m. from a good samaritan that a two-storey building had collapsed at Noman’s Land Quarters, Kano. Our rescue team was quickly dispatched to the scene,” Abdullahi said.

Upon arrival, the rescue team found four persons trapped in the rubble – a husband, wife, and their two children. Unfortunately, the two children were confirmed dead, while the couple was rushed to the Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, Kano, for treatment.

Abdullahi noted that search and rescue operations were still ongoing to rescue any trapped persons in the building. The rescue efforts were a collaborative effort, with the Kano State Fire Service, Police, Red Cross, NSCDC, SEMA, and other agencies working together to save lives.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents expressing their condolences to the affected family. The cause of the building collapse is yet to be determined, but authorities have promised to investigate the incident thoroughly.
