A horrific car accident between a Kano Line passenger bus and a tanker near Darki town in Kano State’s Wudil Local Government Area claimed the lives of at least twelve individuals.

The state went into mourning after learning that the terrible occurrence happened on Monday, October 27, along the bustling Kano-Gombe Road.

According to reports, a tanker driver involved in a road construction project abruptly turned in the center of the highway, causing the collision.

Unable to avoid the blockage, the passenger bus headed for Kano crashed into the tanker, instantly killing several people.

In a statement provided to reporters, Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, Director of Kano Line, acknowledged the accident and revealed that the bus was transporting sixteen people.

Twelve of the sixteen people on board, including two of our drivers, Alhaji Sabo and Alhaji Dan Azumi, are claimed to have died instantly, according to Shu’aibu.

Five more people—four women and one man—were taken to a neighboring hospital for immediate medical attention after suffering serious injuries, he continued.

Shu’aibu expressed his sympathies to the slain families and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, calling the incident a terrible loss.

“This terrible accident has devastated us. The relatives of the victims are in our thoughts and prayers. He said, “May Almighty Allah grant the deceased eternal rest and speedy recovery to the injured.”

The head of Kano Line demanded more stringent highway safety regulations, especially in the vicinity of road construction projects.

In order to minimize preventable tragedies, he emphasized the necessity of better traffic regulation and driver awareness.
