Operation Delta Safe, also known as the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South South, has murdered a cult leader who was involved in abduction for ransom.
In the Pessu community, Warri South local government area of Delta state, it also detained another member, Stephen Fragene. According to a statement signed by Capt. Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, the suspect admitted to being a member of a notorious gang that terrorizes the area and its surroundings.
He claimed, “He has given reliable information about the activities of the group using deadly weapons in recent clashes.”
With proof of payments paid to ensure the victims’ release, the statement exposed the apprehended notorious criminal’s serious involvement in abduction for ransom.

The neutralized suspect, who was only known as Mr. Dele, was shot dead during a gunfight that the troops performed as part of a follow-up operation, he added, and a pump-action gun was found at the scene.
In order to apprehend further gang members, the Army spokesperson stated that “the operation is ongoing, with troops combing the general area.”
“Efforts are also stepped up to recuperate the weapons they possess.”
Brigadier MA Shonibare, Commander, 63 Brigade/Sector 1, JTF SS OPDS, praised the soldiers “for their resilience” but also ordered them to “clamp down on all criminal elements in the area.”
The people of Delta State and the surrounding area were also reassured by him that the Brigade would continue to successfully prioritize the safety of people and property while he was in charge.
