Troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army, under Operation FANSAN YANMA, have killed two suspected bandits and recovered rustled cattle following an attack on a Fulani settlement in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred at about 11:40 p.m. on August 31, when armed bandits invaded Kwanar Farakwai village. Security sources revealed that the troops, working in coordination with police and local vigilantes, swiftly mobilized to the scene.
The bandits opened fire on the joint team at the Lambar Zangon axis, fatally wounding one soldier who was rushed to the MRS Hospital in Jaji, but later died. The troops returned fire, forcing the attackers to retreat.
Pursuing the bandits into the Jura axis of Kerawa district, the soldiers killed two suspects while others escaped into the bush. All rustled cattle were successfully recovered.
Military authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing bandits, while investigations into the attack have commenced.
