According to the Nigerian Army, a criminal gang that killed four soldiers in Kalaogbokolo, in the Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, in 2023 has been neutralized by 5 Battalion troops.

After shooting the troops who were guarding them in the same area, the Army said the gang was also responsible for the kidnapping of two Korean expatriates who were employed by an oil service firm.

Jonah Danjuma, the Acting Deputy Director 6 Division Army Public Relations, revealed this in a statement released on Monday in the state capital of Port Harcourt.

Danjuma claimed that after receiving reliable intelligence, the gang’s hideaway was raided, resulting in the accomplishment.
“Troops of 5 Battalion, Nigerian Army, projected force into the hideout of a criminal gang at Kalaogbokolo in Ahoada West Local Government Area, Rivers State,” the release said. The operation was meticulously planned and coordinated.

On December 12, 2023, at Kalaogbokolo in Ahoada West Local Government Area, Rivers State, the gang killed four soldiers and kidnapped two Korean expatriates who worked for Daewoo Company.

Following reliable information about the return of wanted offenders to the community, the operation was carried out. Two locally manufactured rifles, three Ak 47 magazines, one FN magazine, three 7.62mm (Special) rounds, and thirteen 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition are among the other recoveries. The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division reaffirmed that offenders who commit such heinous crimes will suffer severe consequences regardless of the length of time it takes.

“The division’s dedication to protecting lives and property is reassuring to the public. It further stated, “The public is kindly encouraged to keep giving the security agencies actionable intelligence on the operations of such criminal gangs.”
