During a coordinated operation inside Orokam Forest, a border zone between Udenu LGA of Enugu State and Ogbadigbo LGA of Benue State, troops from the Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force, Sector One, Operation Udo Ka (OPUK), in collaboration with Neighbourhood Watch, released fourteen kidnapped individuals.

Zagazola Makama was informed by security sources that the operation was conducted at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday, following the discovery of a suspected kidnappers’ camp concealed in the forest through actionable intelligence from locals.

One of the reports said that troops stationed in Udenu LGA arrived on the site right away along with Neighbourhood Watch members.

“The crooks opened fire on the troops as they approached the location. The abductors were forced to flee in confusion and abandon the abducted victims as the joint team responded with a significant volume of fire, according to the source.

According to the sources, all 14 of the victims who were kidnapped over the weekend while coming from a funeral were safely and unharmedly recovered.

According to preliminary findings, the kidnapped people were from two distinct communities: Orokam in Ogbadigbo LGA of Benue State and Ezimo Agu in Udenu LGA of Enugu State.

Afterwards, the victims were turned over to the Udenu Division Divisional Police Officer so they could be reunited with their relatives right away.

The source claims that after firing 70 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition during the combat, the forces returned to their base at approximately 7:21 p.m. without reporting any casualties.

In order to stop criminal gangs from reuniting or working freely, security personnel have now stepped up their monitoring throughout the region, according to the sources.
