Two siblings on Saturday died in a mine collapse in Kakaki village, Paikoro local government area of Niger State.

The victims – Zubairu Ibrahim (20) and Sadiq Ibrahim (25) –died when the mine they were working in suddenly caved in.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Mines and Solid Mineral Resources, Mrs. Maureen Dibie, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.

She said the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Yunusa Nahauni, led other officials to pay a condolence visit to the bereaved family on Sunday.

The incident occurred two months after several miners died in a mine collapse in Shiroro LGA.
