Through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), OPay, Nigeria’s top financial technology business, has made the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) the 19th recipient of its ₦1.2 billion 10-Year Scholarship Program.
The signing of the MOU, which took place on Wednesday in Nsukka, demonstrates OPay’s dedication to financial inclusion, educational development, and corporate social responsibility. Twenty beneficiaries in each university receive ₦300,000 per academic session for the duration of their studies, up to ten years, under the program, which was started to assist underprivileged students in 20 tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
UNN Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya welcomed the OPay team to the university, expressing gratitude for the initiative and praising OPay’s role in advancing education in Nigeria.
“This scholarship initiative benefits Nigeria overall in addition to UNN. It is an admirable step, one that is certainly deserving of praise,” he remarked.

Each of the 20 recipients at UNN will earn ₦300,000 for each academic session for a maximum of ten years of study. He said, “We are thrilled about this collaboration and anticipate the great effects it will have on students’ and their families’ lives.
