Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), is a social media pundit who has responded to recent remarks made by Olanipekun Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in a televised interview.
Olukoyede stressed the value of a fair trial during the interview and advised against denouncing former militant commander Oweizidei Thomas Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for alleged naira note defacement.
In response, VDM posted a video in which he described an uncomfortable interaction with EFCC officers. While visiting a bank, he claimed that EFCC employees threatened to shoot his companion in the leg and pointed a gun at his mother. Although no formal charges have been brought against him, he claims that the agency took his phone and car under duress and that he has not yet been able to get them back.

The EFCC’s public position on fair treatment, he said, is a sharp contrast to the way he was allegedly treated. Furthermore, VDM conjectured that the agency’s actions might have been motivated by his confiscated phone.
Tompolo was declared a friend by VDM, who cautioned the EFCC against holding him. If Tompolo suffered any harm, he promised to publicly reveal it and shame the agency.
The son of well-known businessman Chief Okoya was brought up by VDM, who further questioned the agency’s consistency by implying that the EFCC neglected to investigate him in a comparable situation. Additionally, he blamed CBEX scammers, blamed the agency for failing to prosecute them, and claimed that focusing on naira mutilation could deplete its resources.
VDM urged the EFCC to re-examine the contentious film, claiming Tompolo was not seen scattering cash.
Within his statement, VDM also revealed that he intends to petition the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) about a problem in a market in Anambra. Following the formal receipt of the complaint, he encouraged the agency to take action.
VDM’s ongoing conflict with the EFCC is exacerbated by this development. He was allegedly detained by the commission at an undisclosed location only weeks prior, which caused his associate, Dkokopee, to express public alarm. He was held for several days before being freed.
