Zarawuyaku Ward, Aliyu Abubakar Aliyu’s home ward in Biu Local Government Area (LGA), has suspended him as the secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State.
Aliyu was accused of anti-party activity and noncompliance with important party criteria by the ward executives.
In the wake of an emergency meeting of the Zarawuyaku Ward Executive Council, Aliyu was suspended. Thirteen of the seventeen executives who attended the meeting, which was presided over by Yunusa Mohammed, the Ward Chairman, signed a resolution to reject the state secretary.
During the general elections in 2023, Aliyu was accused by the ward executives of failing to rally support for the party. He was accused of missing important political events intended to bolster the PDP in the ward and of not attending campaign rallies.

After reviewing the February 25, 2023, presidential and national assembly elections, as well as the March 11, 2023, governorship and state house of assembly elections, the ward leadership released a statement saying, “We observed with utmost dismay that Aliyu Abubakar Aliyu, the PDP State Secretary, worked against the party’s success in Zarawuyaku Ward.”
Aliyu was accused by the executives of not having a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) that was registered in Zarawuyaku Ward. According to their claims, this was against PDP Constitution (2017, as amended) Section 8, Subsection 9. They then charged Aliyu with not paying the party’s annual subscription fee, which is another condition specified in the party’s constitution.
According to the statement, “it is on record that he participated in anti-party activities, failed to organize voters, and skipped party rallies as required by Section 11, Subsections 1 and 2 of the PDP constitution.”
