A four-member gang of suspected armed robbers have allegedly robbed a businessman, Malam Salle, of a substantial amount of money at Tunga Market, Minna, Niger State capital.

It was gathered the incident occurred around 8 am on Monday.

Eyewitness said the suspects blocked the victim’s Mercedes vehicle with their Corolla car, opened the back seat and boot of his car, and carted away valuables.

The robbers were said to have fled towards the David Mark Road after committing the crime.

Salleh, an elderly person, who appeared confused and surprised at the development, said he was on his way to the bank when the robbers robbed him at the Tunga market.

According to him, ” I was on my way to lodge the money made from a business deal I made yesterday to the bank when the robbers blocked my car and stole the money and other values”

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said today 8th September, 2025 at about 8.45am, report received indicated that there was a robbery around Tunga Market, Minna where a Toyota Camry vehicle, ash in colour with four men crossed and blocked a mercedes vehicle.

The PRO stated that the victim in the mercedes vehicle was allegedly robbed of a yet to be ascertained sum of money, when coming from the old city gate area.

However, he disclosed that all Police patrol teams and Divisions were immediately alerted for quick intervention, immediate possible recovery and arrest of the suspected armed robbers.

” The Commissioner of Police has directed Area Commander Minna and DPO Tudun-Wada Division to quickly swing into action and ensure a forensic investigation with a view to arrest the culprits, while the victim is advised to officially report the incident in the nearest Police station, ” Abiodun added.
