Bimbo Akintola, a Nollywood actress, has disclosed the reason behind her steadfast and strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She claims that her choice to increase her support for the now-president was prompted by a personal encounter with an opposition supporter.
In a recent appearance on With Chude, Akintola revealed that after being verbally harassed by an opposition fan for her decision, her original support for Tinubu during the previous election became even stronger.
The actress stated that she decided to intensify her support for Tinubu as a result of the bullying.
Akintola revealed that her political views changed as a result of the harassment she endured for supporting Tinubu. In reaction to the criticism, she decided to strengthen her support for the then-APC candidate rather than retreat.
Akintola also emphasized throughout the discussion how important it is to accept other people’s political beliefs and decisions.
“I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election because I was irritated by someone’s bullying,” she stated.
“Nigerians irritate me. Don’t harass others. We are entitled to differing viewpoints. It’s okay if you don’t like Tinubu; you have the right to do so. It’s great that you like this guy. Don’t bully others, though.
“They harassed Auntie Joke [Silva] to the extent that someone wrote something so cruel.” I created a video in which I declared, “Kill me, let me see if you can change my mind. I’m also supporting Tinubu.”
“Bullying needs to end. We must acknowledge that we can never agree with everyone. That’s what makes us wonderful and lovely. It would be a dull life if we were all the same. You may disagree that he was the best candidate for the position till tomorrow, but at that time, I desired and voted for him. My voice is mine, and you cannot take it away.
