Kemi Adeosun, a former minister of finance, claimed that “powerful enemies” were to blame for her resignation from former President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

She claims that these influential adversaries used the scandal surrounding her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credential to force her to resign.

According to reports, Adeosun revealed the information during a Friday appearance on Channels Television. On Thursday, the station’s news segment featured a clip from the show Inside Sources.

Recall that Adeosun resigned in 2018 due to accusations that her credentials included a fake NYSC certificate.

The former finance minister stated in the interview that she was forced to leave due to internal resistance inside the Buhari-led government.

“The fact that I had strong adversaries who I thought saw an opportunity doesn’t bother me. She said, “Let’s get rid of her.”

Adeosun clarified that she directly told President Buhari about the situation and her plan to take legal action, emphasizing that she couldn’t stay in office while challenging the government.

“I resigned, but nobody else did in finance. I resigned, but why? I went to visit the president on the day I quit. “Mr. President, I have to leave, but I’ll go to court to clear my name,” she remarked.

She claims that Buhari agreed with her choice and cautioned against losing one’s reputation in order to hold political position.

“I fully support you,” he said. Since our children and grandkids are renting these names, isn’t that correct? “They will inherit them,” Adeosun declared.

Then, since you wish to continue serving as a clergyman, you ruin your reputation. For what purpose?

Adeosun claimed that after resigning, she sued the Federal Government, arguing that it was the only morally acceptable course of action.

I filed a lawsuit against the federal government. You cannot continue to work for the government while suing it. You are unable to. You must leave. She continued, “I believe it is the correct thing to do.

A Federal High Court in Abuja decided in July 2021 that Adeosun’s occupation could not be penalized or forfeited because of the NYSC certificate problem.

According to Justice Taiwo Taiwo, Adeosun was not required to produce a NYSC certificate in order to be elected to public office in Nigeria. The claim that the certificate in question was forged, however, was not addressed by the court.
