A year after the premature death of her husband, Jennifer Awele, the late Nollywood actor Junior Pope’s wife, has spoken up.
On April 8, 2024, Junior Pope and other crew members drowned at the Anam River in Anambra State on their way back after a filming operation.
While calling the occurrence an unfathomable loss, Jennifer wrote in a long Instagram post on Thursday, April 10, 2025, that her husband’s absence left a vacuum that words will never cover.

Their kids still ask her questions about their father, she claims, but she is at a loss for words.

Jennifer expressed gratitude to everyone who saw their plight and supported them.
She remarked, “We have been grieving our unfathomable loss for a year, and every day has been filled with thoughts of you. Your presence is felt in the quiet times when we miss you the most, your laughter reverberates in our hearts, and your love still envelops us.

“You have no clue how difficult it has been to attempt to support one another as the world around us seems to be falling apart. We look to heaven for strength and direction despite the great pain and the vacuum created by the absence, which words can never replace. Oh death, you have taught us to accept so much unbearable suffering and live each day as it comes, one step at a time.

“When Jason and Jaden ask if Daddy will keep his commitment to enroll them in a legitimate football program and attend their first official game, I still don’t know how to react. “Daddy assured them he wouldn’t miss it for the world,” they claimed. The youngest, Jamon, also known as J Papa as his father like to call him, then starts asking when his father will send the large toy car he promised him.

“Everyone who showed sympathy and supported us during our time of loss is greatly appreciated. We cannot put into words how much we appreciate your love and support for us.

In addition to your family and us, our beloved, you left behind a large number of people who cherished you and your creations. Although it is extremely tough and unreal to say these words, keep on resting in the arms of God. Your legacy and recollections will endure forever, and you will never be far from our hearts and minds.

You continue to exist in every memory, every smile, and every cry, even if you are no longer with us. We will always have you with us until we cross paths again. I mean, we can’t question God? My love, I hope your soul finds eternal peace.
