The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has come under fire from Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike for failing to reinstall His Royal Highness, Eze Ohna Sergent Awuse, the Paramount Ruler of Emohua, as Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council.
Recall that in 2024, Fubara appointed Eze Chike Worlu Wodo as the Paramount Ruler of Apara Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, succeeding Wike’s close ally Eze Ohna Awuse.
However, Wike criticized Fubara when addressing at the palace of His Royal Highness, Ohna Sergent Awuse, who is also the Chairman of the South-South Traditional Rulers Forum on Sundau, during a special Christmas visit to his supporters in the Emohua Local Government Area.
Wike disclosed that Awuse had been unwell and entered a coma, at which point the state government removed him from his position as chairman and named a replacement.
“Chief Awuse was the chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council,” he stated.
Due to his illness, Chief Awuse into a coma. The next thing they did was remove him from his position as Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, rather than asking God to help him get out of this.
“Go and bring Chief Awuse back into the fold. It is still challenging.
“You claim that I’m stupid? Am I an idiot?
“Well, there’s always time to wrestle.” Can you comprehend me? You are aware of when wrestling begins. At that moment, the important people don’t come out.
