Nigeria cannot exist without any kind of revenue, according to former Ekiti North senator Ayo Arise, who has thrown his support behind President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform proposals.
This was said by Arise during her speech on Monday.
Without some kind of revenue, no country could exist. Otherwise, the nation will not be able to increase its revenue. We have been discussing eliminating subsidies, and as everyone knows, this nation can no longer rely solely on that one product.

“The President desires for the nation to produce more income. According to excise taxes, Nigerians are exporting more currently than they did under any other administration. These are among the accomplishments of this administration. People are starting to produce. A large number of them are exporting. Our culture, including our clothing, is being exported.
In addition to cashews, they are exporting our textiles. I had the chance to talk to the Comptroller-General of Customs, and I asked him some questions about our exports. In the past, people would bring in a ton of goods, but the ship would return with virtually no cargo. Now, that isn’t the case.
“Therefore, things are getting better at Customs because we’re expecting more,” he stated.
