The Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, Ridhwan Jamiu, expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu on Friday, praising his leadership and reaffirming the trust Nigerians have in him.
Speaking during the Juma’at prayer at the Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos, where President Tinubu was in attendance, Imam Jamiu assured the president that he had not let down the nation.
The cleric commended the president’s competence and wisdom, praying that he would continue to lead with success and not disappoint the people.
“We are proud of you. I remember that we encouraged people to vote for you during the campaigns.
”We thank God that you have not disappointed us.
“We know you are capable. We know you have the sagacity. We know you are competent.
“We believe and pray that you are not going to disappoint us.
”May Allah continue to be with you. Allah has entrusted Nigeria to you and will ask you for this trust,” he said.
Imam Jamiu reminded the congregation to remain grateful to Allah in times of prosperity and patience during difficult moments, stressing the importance of unwavering hope and faith for believers, even in the face of adversity.
In his address to the president, the Imam emphasized the need for accountability and responsibility to the people, underscoring that leadership should be just and righteous.
He referred to Prophet Muhammad’s teachings, recognising the president’s fairness and justice, and urged him to maintain these values throughout his tenure.
He said, “Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: ‘The most beloved of all people to Allah is the righteous and just leader.’
“We have seen righteousness in you and fairness and justice in you. Please keep it up and sustain it.
“You bear one of the names of Prophet Muhammad, Ahmed, someone who does what is praiseworthy.
”This name has been reflected in your past actions and we hope it will reflect in your actions now.”
The Juma’at prayer marked the president’s first public engagement since attending the Juma’at prayer at the Alausa Central Mosque on December 20.
