The former vice president Atiku Abubakar’s political future appears gloomy, according to the presidency.
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, reportedly made the claim in response to Ifeanyi Okowa, the PDP’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tunde Rahman, Tinubu’s assistant, had earlier implied in a post via X that Atiku’s coalition proposal is doomed after the PDP governors disassociated themselves from it and the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) declared their allegiance to President Bola Tinubu.

His other ally, the now-defunct CPC branch, has promised support for President Tinubu after the PDP governors cleared their hands of any such coalition proposal.
He received his greatest stunner to date today. Ifeanyi Okowa, the former governor of Delta State and his running mate for the 2023 election, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Okowa’s successor, abandoned the sinking PDP ship and boarded the APC aircraft, presumably switching to the PBAT side. It is true that the tally of PDP governors who have switched to the APC has started.

“Isn’t the Atiku coalition useless right away? In the words of my people, Friday will give way to the first signs of a good Saturday.
Atiku’s alliance with former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and other Northern leaders has fallen apart, Onanuga said in response to the post, calling him a bitter loser.
“Atiku’s political prospects appear to be dire,” he stated. Baba-Ahmed, Babachir, El Rufai, and he have broken up the alliance they were scheming to form.
Potential supporters of his leprous group are ignoring it, including erstwhile running mate Ifeanyi Okowa and former CPC members. Atiku has lost once more.
