Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of deserving officers’ families who perished while performing their duties.
The governor gave N20 million to the state’s Nigeria Legion chapter in support of the 2025 Remembrance Emblem unveiling, as part of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony on Wednesday at the Gusau trade fair complex.
Lawal examined a guard of honor presented by the Nigerian Legion and the Armed Forces, according to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.
Governor Lawal also presided over the wreath-laying ceremony and a one-minute pause in remembrance of the departed warriors, the statement said.Every year on January 15, the nation celebrates Armed Forces Remembrance Day to honor and remember the brave veterans who gave their lives in defense of Nigeria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and who sacrificed their lives so that we could live in peace.Their dedication and selflessness have changed our lives today, and for that we are grateful. We promise to honor them and provide for the loved ones they left behind out of gratitude and a sense of obligation. In addition to being a call to action for everyone in Zamfara State and the nation, this day honors our fallen heroes. “It is an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by those brave individuals and to reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values and principles they fought and died for,” the statement reads. We should be motivated to value the relative calm we currently have and work toward a brighter future by the legacy of our warriors.Supporting the families of these deceased heroes and the veterans who fought so that we can sleep and who still carry the scars of their service to the country is something we must never forget. We must be reminded of our duty to protect their wellbeing by their perseverance and commitment. By doing this, we pay tribute to their sacrifices and show our appreciation for their steadfast dedication to our country. We need to be on guard against sporadic attacks on soft targets. This government has guaranteed the welfare of the families of officers who died while performing their duties in addition to providing logistical support and necessary resources.Supporting our heroes and their families and paying for medical care for those hurt during security operations are priorities for us.The security personnel now have access to motorcycles and security vehicles with cutting-edge technology as part of my administration’s attempts to compressively solve the security concerns. In order to guarantee that no area of our state is at risk, this project improves their capacity to traverse challenging terrain. The governor stated, “We are still dedicated to fortifying strategic partnerships with neighboring nations, security organizations, and other interested parties in order to effectively address the security issues impacting our beloved state, as cooperation is essential to attaining long-term peace and stability.”
Despite scarce resources, he pointed out that the state is making great strides in resolving its internal security concerns through a number of initiatives.
