In 2024, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) secured 4,111 convictions and recovered N365.4 billion, according to Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the commission’s executive chairman.
Olukoyede made this announcement in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday at the conclusion of a three-day director retreat with the topic “EFCC: The Journey So Far, Ensuring Professionalism and Integrity,” according to a statement released by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale.
In the following six months, he promised to establish a “brand new EFCC” in Nigeria, attributing the accomplishments to the hard work, sacrifice, and devotion of EFCC employees.
The Commission obtained 4,111 convictions and retrieved more than N365.4 billion in 2024. Part of the announcement said, “The chairman of the EFCC expressed gratitude for the staff’s sacrifices, diligence, and discipline, and urged them to be more committed to maintaining the integrity of the agency’s operations and surpassing the 2024 records.”

Olukoyede stressed the need of professionalism and honesty in the battle against corruption, saying that the EFCC staff needs to develop into a highly driven, trustworthy, and productive group.
According to resource person Professor Tonnie Iredia, who spoke on “The Role of Personnel in Information Management and Public Perception of the EFCC,” cynicism about the commission’s work and intentional distortion are often the causes of unfavorable opinions about it. He urged more public participation in the anti-graft campaign and praised Olukoyede’s zeal, moral character, and open leadership.
Speaking about the EFCC’s development, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, said that “the Commission has come to stay.”
He gave the EFCC chairman and staff high marks for their tenacity and dedication to furthering the anti-corruption movement. To guarantee that the commission fulfills its duty completely, Falana also acknowledged the difficulties the judiciary presents and pledged to work to resolve them.
