In 2027, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), has announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will take back its mandate.
In order to take over the existing role, Abba Yusuf, the incumbent governor of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), fought against Nasiru Gawuna, the APC candidate, in court and during the 2023 election.
Speaking at an empowerment event in Kano on Sunday hosted by Senate Deputy President Barau Jibrin, Doguwa said he was confident in the APC’s unity in the state and that it would help the party regain power.

As part of the occasion, Jibril also gave 1,136 motorbikes and 61 automobiles to Kano State grassroots leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an effort to boost party mobilization.

According to Jibril’s presentation, the automobiles would be given to the local government and party zonal chairman, while the motorbikes were reserved for the ward chairmen.

He also revealed his intention to provide university graduates with a ₦5 million loan to assist launch small enterprises.

Jibril’s donation was hailed by APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who told NAN that it will strengthen the party’s vision and enhance the socioeconomic well-being of its members.

Ganduje also thanked President Bola Tinubu for providing important federal and cabinet positions to prominent Kano State APC members.
