Peter Obi has been accused by the All Progressives Congress of “selective outrage” over remarks he made on President Donald Trump’s threat to invade Nigeria due to purported Christian killings.

Seye Oladejo, the APC spokeswoman for Lagos, denounced Mr. Obi’s attempt to “turn a sensitive national issue into political theatre rather than demonstrate statesmanship” in a statement on Tuesday.

Following the United States’ designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” the Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress has witnessed Mr. Peter Obi’s most recent grandstanding. Real leaders stand up for their nation when things go tough. The ruling party stated that statesmen strike a balance between criticism and dignity and patriotism. However, Peter Obi seems satisfied only when Nigeria is under duress, seeing every obstacle as a chance for his political comeback. Patriotism isn’t that. Sour politics are the result of electoral misery.

In a statement released on Monday, Mr. Obi criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for failing to put an end to the rampant violence carried out by terrorists and robbers. He accused the APC administration of being incompetent and uncommitted to improving the situation.

The Labour Party official, according to APC, “did not speak out of patriotic instinct, but out of public pressure and fear of further exposing his double standards.”

The country saw what we anticipated when he eventually spoke: too little, too late, and too predictable. His response lacked urgency, sincerity, and any kind of spirit of solidarity.

“A man who says he wants to be a national leader shouldn’t need to be reminded in public to speak when his country’s reputation is at risk. The party went on, “Leadership is proactive, not reactive, and definitely not driven by online agitation.”

The party maintained that the nation’s security issues were inherited while accused Mr. Obi of “rehearsing 2023 grievances and clinging to foreign commentary for political oxygen,” adding that Mr. Tinubu was dedicated to resolving them.

“The security issues in Nigeria were inherited; they did not arise overnight. President Tinubu is taking a bold and calculated stance against them. Nigeria won’t submit to those who want its problems to go worse. The party said, “We implore the public to remain focused on the Renewed Hope agenda and reject individuals who profit politically from national difficulty.”
