In Malam Fatori, a crucial border hamlet on the outskirts of Lake Chad, soldiers from the Nigerian Army and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) repulsed an early attack by fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Around 4:30 a.m., the terrorists started a concerted attack on the Forward Operating Base, or FOB, Kangar, according to security sources. on Tuesday, attempting to take control of the military installation with the use of armed drones, mortar fire, and swift ground movement.
After a heavy gunfight, the forces, backed by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, or CJTF, reportedly held their ground, reorganized, and launched a counteroffensive that caused the rebels to retreat.
Targeting the terrorists’ gun positions and neutralizing a number of them, reinforcements from the main battalion and ground attack aircraft from the MNJTF’s Nigerien component joined the operation.
The assault was successfully repelled by the combined effort, and the forces were able to preserve operational control and a high level of morale.
According to security officials, the terrorists were spotted running toward the Tumbun region’s waterways.
