Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the most recent governor of Kano State, has rejected the Kano State government’s request for his arrest.
He called the call reckless and unjustified.
Edwin Olofu, Ganduje’s chief press secretary, disclosed this in a statement.
The statement said that the action by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration demonstrated a disregard for the state’s actual security concerns.
“It is extremely regrettable that Governor Yusuf has chosen to chase shadows while looking for scapegoats to conceal his glaring failures, instead of addressing the escalating insecurity ravaging the state,” he stated.
Ganduje claims that despite frequent attacks on villages in Bagwai, Shanono, Tsanyawa, and other locations, the governor has not paid them a visit or expressed sympathy.
The statement went on, “His persistent absence during times that call for leadership speaks volumes of his disconnect from the people he claims to serve.”
Ganduje maintained that he has never been connected to acts that jeopardize Kano State’s peace and stability or been connected to acts of violence.
He emphasized that the accusation was merely intended to divert attention.
Instead of engaging in political theater and making baseless accusations, he encouraged Governor Yusuf to concentrate on his constitutional duty of protecting Kano residents.
Remember that on Friday, the Kano State Government demanded that Abdullahi Umar Ganduje be arrested right away for allegedly making inflammatory remarks and attempting to form an unlawful military group in the state.
