Hon. Wale Oriade, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State’s Ibadan South West Local Government Area, has allegedly been abducted by unidentified gunmen.
Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oriade was reportedly taken away by unidentified gunmen as he was leaving his office in the Akala Expressway neighborhood of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
According to Taoreed Sanusi, an Instagram user who reported the event, the victim was taken by three armed guys and coerced into a blue Micra car.
It was mentioned that criminal activity in the large city has been connected to Micra, a well-liked commercial transportation system in the state capital.
His phone was taken, and the attackers left the scene in an unidentified direction. “His safety continues to be our top priority,” he stated.
Senator Teslim Folarin, a former Senate Leader and 2023 APC candidate for governor of Oyo State, responded to the incident on Thursday by expressing shock over the kidnapping.
“The abduction of Hon. Wale Oriade severely disturbs me. Folarin declared, “This incident is unacceptable and a painful reminder of the growing insecurity confronting our dear nation.”
“To act decisively and deploy every necessary resource to ensure his immediate and safe rescue,” he urged the security services.
As security personnel step up their efforts, Senator Folarin urged party members and locals to be calm and sent his thoughts and prayers to the family of the kidnapped lawmaker.
“Criminals cannot be allowed to take over Oyo State. We need to enhance intelligence sharing, fortify our security architecture, and safeguard all citizens.
He prayed, “May Almighty Allah protect Hon. Oriade and bring him home safely.”
