Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has been ridiculed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike for referring to himself as the state’s “001.”
Wike dismissed assertions that the governor is the head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, emphasizing that Fubara is not the state’s 001.
After leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC, Fubara made the statement. When he registered with the APC in Rivers State, his membership number was 001.
But during his year-end press conference in Port Harcourt, Wike stated: “He [Fubara] decamped to APC with whom? Describe 001. I can assure you that 001 is unmatched in the state.
“If you are 001, it’s in your ward because you register with both your local government and ward.
“001 is unlike anything other. Nothing like my 001 registration in the state. In each ward, each person registered. It’s not your place to be the first person to sign up.
Wike stated, “I don’t know about that because if he says so, who is the leader of APC in Lagos State?” in reference to Fubara’s position as the party’s leader in Rivers State.
Since there are certain exceptions to the rule, let’s avoid discussing them further.
“You see, I am not a leader just because I am a governor. I’m not a leader because I’m a minister. You have to possess something that qualifies you as a leader.
