The National Youth Service Corps’ (NYSC) Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has called on corps members to respect local customs, remain committed to their duties, and significantly advance Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.
Nafiu provided the advice while addressing the 2026 Batch “A” Stream One corps members at the NYSC orientation camps in Ogun and Oyo states, according to a statement released on Saturday on the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters 𝕏 account.
While commending the corps members for answering the call to serve their country, he advised them to approach their service year with discipline, creativity, and a strong sense of duty.
He also stressed the importance of responsible personal money management, emphasizing that sound financial habits might help both during and after the service year.
Additionally, the head of NYSC urged participants to uphold great behavior in their host communities and places of employment.When you are assigned to your primary work, follow their regulations, be punctual, be creative, and familiarize yourself with the organization’s culture,” Nafiu counseled.
3,341 corps members enlisted in the Ogun State orientation camp, and 975 of them were initially sent to Lagos State, according to NYSC Coordinator Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu.
She praised their actions, saying that “all camp officials are also performing their duties diligently with high sense of synergy” and that they had “conducted themselves responsibly and adapted to the regimented camp life.”
3,068 corps members have completed their registration, according to Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, the NYSC Coordinator in Oyo State. He emphasized that attendees had shown great character, participated completely in camp activities, and showed a desire to assist many aspects of national development.
The 2026 Batch “A” Stream I Orientation Course was scheduled to start on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in all 37 orientation camps across the country, according to a previous statement from NYSC.”From Wednesday, January 21 to Friday, January 23 at midnight, all Corps members will be able to register for camp,” he said.
