In its increased efforts to combat criminal activity in the state, the Imo State Police Command has seized weapons and illegal narcotics and detained 25 individuals in various criminal activities.

According to a news release from the Command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the police had detained 25 people for crimes that included drug sales, child trafficking, cultism, armed robbery, and kidnapping.

According to Okoye, throughout the course of the investigations, officers found 35 bags of suspected cannabis sativa weeds, two cars, three motorcycles, four assault guns, and 25 cartridges.

Twenty-two (22) rounds of live ammunition, one AK-47 rifle, one LAR rifle, and one pump-action gun were found.

The suspect reportedly admitted that his syndicate had killed innocent people, including a young woman who was pregnant and a preacher.
According to the announcement, “all suspects and exhibits are currently in custody for a thorough investigation and will be charged to court accordingly in accordance with the rule of law.”
Okoye added that the newly promoted Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, assured the people of the State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal organizations and maintaining public safety.
