The All Progressives Congress-appointed legislative assistants to the National Assembly publicly announced their support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign on Wednesday, promising to mobilize voters across the country.
Ayoola Fakunle, the group’s national coordinator, made the statement during the National Assembly Legislative Aides’ induction into the APC Support Groups Council in Abuja.
The endorsement coincides with the ruling APC stepping up grassroots participation through affiliated groups and support networks, as well as early political realignments and mobilization attempts by parties preparing for the general elections in 2027.
According to Fakunle, who spoke at the event, legislative assistants are strategically important for voter mobilization because they constitute a broad political framework that spans the federal, state, and local levels.
“We have legislative assistants in the State and National legislatures as well as in municipal government. Legislative assistants can be found everywhere. We have equal representation in each polling station.
By using their PVC, we are mobilizing people. You need to provide proof of your APC membership and your PVC before you may join. The goal is to make sure that we back former senator and our principles, President Bola Tinubu, in his reelection. Thus, President Tinubu has on two hats.
Therefore, we are making every effort to secure those four years, just as we will support our principals in their respective states, state assemblies, and municipal administrations. We currently have members all across the world. Therefore, we have no fear,” she stated.
Although Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election on the APC platform, has not yet formally announced his plans for 2027, party support organizations have kept up their organizing in anticipation of his potential reelection.
The admission of the legislative aides was seen as a strategic boost for the ruling party’s mobilization drive by Sadiq Jikta, the Director General of the APC Support Groups Council.
We need more members and organizations like these, so the APC is benefiting from today’s inauguration of legislative aides. It indicates that we are doing the right thing and winning.
