At least six people lost their lives and three more were hurt in a truck collision at the Ilo-Awela axis of the Toll Gate section along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, according to the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).
On Tuesday in Ota, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) received confirmation of the accident from Mr. Salau Hammed, the TRACE Divisional Commander for Ota.
According to Hammed, at approximately 9:55 a.m., a truck, tricycle, and nine people were engaged in an accident.
As stated by He was informed by an eyewitness that a truck heading toward the Toll Gate from Ilo-Awela lost control owing to a malfunctioning brake and collided with a tricycle, other cars, and people.
Five men and one woman were among the six recorded deaths, and three others suffered serious injuries.
He stated that the survivors are being treated at Ota General Hospital, while the victims’ bodies have been moved to the mortuary at Ifo General Hospital.
In order to manage the issue, TRACE staff and sister agencies are on the ground, according to Hammed, who also stated that efforts were being made to remove the truck, the impacted vehicles, and the tricycle from the highway.
He cautioned drivers to make sure their cars are in good condition before placing them on the road and to avoid speeding.
