More than 1.2 million Nigerians have successfully registered in the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration, or CVR, operation, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, which has declared a notable increase in voter enrolment.
As of February 13, 2026, 1,228,648 eligible voters had registered during Phase II, Week Six of the exercise, the Commission revealed in an update posted on its official X platform on Thursday.
Compared to the 884,737 registrants at the end of Week Five, this is a significant rise.
According to INEC data, 555,524 people completed the registration process at specific physical registration centers around the country, while 673,124 applications started the process online through the pre-registration portal.
By state, Jigawa State had the most new registrants (98,698 voters, or 8.03 percent of the total), according to a state-by-state study.
Kano State (71,990), Lagos State (86,307), and Sokoto State (77,004) come next.
According to the gender breakdown, women make up the majority of registrants (696,891; 57%), followed by men (531,757; 43%).
With 848,066 registrations, or 69.02 percent of the total, young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 34 make up the majority of the population.
Additionally, according to INEC, 19,414 PWDs have registered countrywide thus far.
The Commission stated that the CVR exercise is still taking on nationwide, with the exception of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where registration has been halted in accordance with the Electoral Act in advance of the Area Council elections scheduled for February 21, 2026.
January 5, 2026, marked the start of Phase II of the CVR, which is expected to conclude in April 2026. It comes after Phase I, which saw the addition of over 2.78 million new voters to the national register between August and December 2025.
