President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital area, saying that the ruling All Progressives Congress benefited politically from his accomplishments in the area.

Following by-elections in the Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State, and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s elections in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday, the President made these statements.

The majority of the positions that were contested saw victory for the APC.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, released a statement on Sunday in which Tinubu praised all parties participating in the election process and congratulated the election winners.

The statement said that the President commended INEC, security services, and voters for making the exercise credible and peaceful.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has received praise from President Tinubu for his outstanding accomplishments in the region, which have benefited the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) politically, Onanuga said.

“The President extends his congratulations to the APC national leadership, the leaderships of Kano and Rivers, and all party members on their electoral triumphs.”

Tinubu emphasized that elected officials should approach their role with a sense of obligation and accountability.

“Humble, patriotism, and dedication and to view the mandate given to them by the people as a sacred trust” are the words he used to exhort the winners to serve.

The President also praised the candidates’ behavior at the polls.

“He also praises the bravery and self-control of all the candidates, saying that democracy is enhanced by the energy of competition and participation,” the statement continued.

Tinubu urged INEC to keep refining its procedures while reaffirming that the smoothly held elections further reinforced democratic institutions.

In order to provide even more excellent electoral procedures, the president urged the electoral commission “to keep improving its efforts.”
