Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is employed by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, according to Ajibola Basiru, national secretary of the All Progressives Congress.
Basiru explained that Wike works for the APC-led federal administration led by Tinubu even though he is not an APC member.
According to Basiru, who spoke on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, the party’s victory in the most recent FCT local government elections was largely due to the degree of infrastructure improvement that has been observed throughout the Federal Capital Territory over the previous two and a half years.
He described the minister’s work as “sterling,” pointing out that the benefits were seen in both urban and suburban areas.
The APC won the FCT election in large part because of the minister’s administrative work, the party’s strategic involvement, and the careful selection of candidates with solid political backgrounds from other parties, Basiru continued.
He stressed that it is impossible to divorce the party’s electoral success from the efficient distribution of democratic dividends under the current FCT government.
Basiru claims: “Wike works for an APC government led by Tinubu, but he is not a member of our party.”
“When you look at the enormous amount of infrastructure development that has taken place in the FCT, both in the suburbs and the cities.
“You’ll find that over the last two and a half years, the FCT Minister’s outstanding performance, our party’s engagement, and the careful selection of candidates with stellar backgrounds from various political parties have all helped the APC win the FCT local government elections.
“Since our party won that election, you cannot discount the efficient administrative deployment of the benefits of democracy in the FCT under the current FCT administration.”
