Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa State, formally defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.
According to the governor, the decision was made in order to further Adamawa State’s development and advancement.
According to reports, the APC now controls 30 of Nigeria’s 36 states after he defected.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) still dominates Anambra State, the Labour Party owns Abia State, the Accord Party controls Osun State, and the PDP holds Oyo, Bauchi, and Zamfara.

In other events, the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has been dealt a serious blow by the defection of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to the presidency.
In a tweet on his verified 𝕏 profile on Friday, Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, suggested that Atiku should leave politics and move to his second residence in Dubai.
“Adamawa Governor Fintiri joins the APC, giving President Tinubu’s party complete control over Atiku’s home base,” he stated. For Atiku, this is a major setback.
Fintiri’s defection is undoubtedly a serious setback to seasoned presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, as the poll is less than a year away.
In the state, his ADC is mainly unknown. Given that his governor has transformed the APC into an Adamawa juggernaut, he should definitely reconsider his aspirations.
