Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate and leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the Federal Government is attempting to keep him from running for president in 2027.
According to reports, Obi made the accusation while advocating for the nation’s elections to be credible and transparent.
Obi discussed his political career in a video speech to a group of Nigerians, pointing out that he had faced years of obstacles, such as political exclusion and protracted court battles.
“I’ve worked in this extremely challenging field where people totally deserted you for a single election. “I was in court for three years, and nobody followed me,” he remarked.
The former governor also recalled times during his tenure when he was ousted from office and left without assistance.
“I have been removed from office twice, impeached, and returned to my village where no one wanted to see me,” he continued.
Obi said that he has been reinforced by his past experiences and that he does not see anything new in the current political environment.
“Therefore, I won’t miss anything.” “Everything that has been said about me is not new,” he remarked.
“FG Doesn’t Want Me To Participate”
In advance of the 2027 elections, the former presidential candidate claimed that the Federal Government is still working to thwart his desire.
“The Nigerian Federal Government does not want me to run for president in 2027. We’re not asking for much. We merely want a free and fair election; they already have the ministers and governors,” Obi stated.
Obi went on to say that those in positions of authority have access to powerful networks, which he feels provides them an advantage in the political arena.

Reiterating his position, Obi emphasized the necessity of fair competition and insisted that the emphasis should be on guaranteeing legitimate elections rather than limiting participation.
