According to Oba Maduabuchi, a senior advocate in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot advance without a ruling from the Supreme Court.
In an interview with Arise Television on Monday, Maduabuchi made this claim while answering questions.
According to him, the Court of Appeal supported the Pro-Wike faction’s expulsion.
The senior attorney pointed out that notwithstanding this, the same individuals were chosen to serve on the National Working Committee at the PDP’s just finished national convention.
“You can’t say the Pro-Wike faction was rightly expelled from the party and then affirm Abdulrahman Mohammed-led administration as authentic,” he claims in reference to Justice James Omotoso of the Federal High Court’s inconsistent decision.
“We must go back to the beginning in order to recognize how terrible things have gone. Everyone agreed that Iyorchia Ayu should be the PDP’s national chairperson.
“Umar Damagum replaced him after he was ousted. Despite his issues, Damagum remained in office until December 2025, when his term came to an end.
We began experiencing issues at that point. Mohammed Abdulrahman unexpectedly rose to the position of chairman or acting chairman of the caretaker committee. For my part, I had no idea how he ended up.
And the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was notified by Damagum NWC that they would be holding a meeting to discuss their convention and other matters, and INEC agreed. They got twenty-one days.
Certain individuals were removed or kicked out of the party at the meeting. In actuality, PDP cannot advance in the absence of a Supreme Court ruling, he said.
