Unidentified gunmen launched a new attack on Nyamgo Gyel, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals.

Only three days after President Bola Tinubu visited Jos, the most recent development has raised concerns about the worsening security situation in the area.

The victims, Luka Sandu Pam (36), Samuel Davou (38), and Deme Saidu (35), were reportedly ambushed while riding a motorcycle home from Gero.

The deceased were in a group of roughly fifteen young people returning from a mining site when they ran into the ambush, according to Gyel Youth Leader Dung Davou, who talked with Channels Television.

According to Davou, the group was abruptly attacked by alleged armed herdsmen, which made them run for their lives.

He also urged authorities to take immediate action in response to what he called “repeated and unprovoked attacks on the community.”

“We started hearing intermittent gunshots, and everyone scattered,” he added. Regretfully, three of our people lost their lives.

Recall that last Sunday, heavily armed gunmen besieged the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in over ten fatalities and numerous injuries.

In the meantime, Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau State, believes that the recent tragic Jos massacre happened because the security forces were also taken aback by the relative calm that the locals had experienced, especially during the previous ten to twelve months.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Mutfwang reportedly claimed that the assailants researched the residents’ behavior and imitated the National Drug Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) procedures in order to launch an unexpected attack that caught both residents and security personnel off guard.

The governor said the occurrence was regrettable and concerning, but he was certain it would be an isolated incidence.
