Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, and President Bola Tinubu have received official support for second terms in office from the APC Forum for Good Governance and Continuity.
An “evidence-based assessment” of the leaders’ performance in office was presented by the APC forum during a news conference in Abuja, when the development was announced.
Chief Henry Awolabi, National Coordinator of the APC Forum for Good Governance and Continuity, spoke at the event and emphasized Tinubu’s audacious economic reforms, such as the elimination of fuel subsidies, exchange rate unification, and tax restructuring, which he claimed have started to stabilize Nigeria’s macroeconomic environment.
Governor Fubara’s contribution to bringing normalcy back to Rivers State was also emphasized by Awolabi. The governor received praise for giving infrastructure development, healthcare advancements, and agricultural projects first priority in an effort to diversify the state’s economy beyond oil.
When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office in 2023, Nigeria was on the verge of financial collapse. This administration launched what can only be defined as a bold and historic reform plan with unprecedented political will and clarity of purpose, Awolabi said, adding that the elimination of gasoline subsidies “marked the beginning of a new era of fiscal responsibility.”
Subsequent monetary and fiscal changes, he continued, have helped rebuild investor confidence and reposition Nigeria internationally.
By the end of 2025, the APC Forum reported that Tinubu’s administration had achieved exchange rate stability, steadily reduced inflation, and consistently increased GDP by more than 4%.
It noted that non-oil revenue generation has hit all-time highs, trade surpluses have grown, and foreign reserves have increased.
While acknowledging that such reforms provide transitory obstacles, the forum emphasized that “nations are not transformed by comfort; they are transformed by courage.”
“In Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has shown leadership by navigating intense political turbulence and restoring stability while focusing on infrastructure expansion, including critical road projects that connect communities and stimulate commerce,” Awolabi continued.
“The governor has also taken action to finish a number of unfinished projects, started healthcare reforms to realign general hospitals, and encouraged agricultural initiatives to promote economic diversification and food security.”
Fubara was praised by the APC Forum for exhibiting self-control in the face of provocation and dedication in the face of difficulty.
However, it noted that Nigeria is currently undergoing a fundamental reset and cautioned that inconsistency poses the biggest threat to progress.
“We firmly support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.” We do this because he has shown the guts to make tough choices, the self-control to carry out changes, and the vision to elevate Nigeria to greatness.
Additionally, we firmly support Siminalayi Fubara for a second term as Rivers State’s governor. The APC Forum stated, “We do this because he has demonstrated resilience in times of crisis, dedication to development, and the ability to lead with purpose.”
