In an effort to ease growing tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), former Senate President David Mark has assured supporters and members that the party’s unity will not be jeopardized by the present leadership crisis.
According to reports, Mark made the guarantee on Wednesday during a speech at a church ceremony held in his honor to commemorate his 78th birthday.
The troubled national chairman addressed worries about the party’s internal strife, stating that it shouldn’t be viewed as a danger to the party’s stability.
He stated, “I want to reassure our members and Nigerians at large that there is no cause for alarm regarding the ongoing developments within our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
There are concerns regarding the ADC’s preparedness for the general elections in 2027 due to recent internal conflicts and conflicting leadership claims.
Mark emphasized that the party is still committed to its long-term goals and characterized the conflicts as a normal stage in the growth of any political organization.
“Any expanding organization will inevitably face difficulties. Our shared determination to defeat them is crucial,” he stated.
He insisted that despite the conflicts, the party’s members and leadership are still unified.
He continued, “We remain unified, determined, and focused on upholding democratic values and strengthening the party.”
Additionally, the former Senate president connected the stability of the party to the general well-being of Nigeria’s democratic system.
“Let me reiterate that we are fully committed to the development of our dear nation, Nigeria, and the survival of democracy,” he declared.
Mark promised that the party would keep advancing democratic principles and make sure that citizens receive real advantages from governing.
“To ensure that our democratic institutions are preserved and that the dividends of democracy reach all our people, we will continue to work tirelessly, guided by discipline, integrity, and patriotism,” he declared.
As he thought back on his birthday, Mark reiterated his dedication to national progress and thanked everyone for their support throughout the years.
“Even at 78, my resolve is unwavering.” He declared, “I am more motivated than ever to contribute my fair share to national harmony, peace, and advancement.”
