Gabriel Suswam, the former governor of Benue State, has spoken out against politicians who are involved in anti-party activities, saying they are not honest.
During an interview on ARISE News on Monday, Suswam said that politicians need to be clear about where they stand instead of trying to work across party lines.
He said, “If someone in the APC wants to run against the current government and goes to a PDP meeting, that person is automatically disqualified from even trying because they have no integrity.”
“If you have integrity, you need to stand for something.” If you can stand on something and put one leg in and one leg out, then you can’t trust this integrity.
Suswam said that his move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was part of a larger political shift that was not motivated by personal gain but by conviction and the public good.
He said that the political climate in Benue State and the work of the current government had an effect on his decision.
He said, “If you look up the word realignment, it means that people are moving to be more like other people.” It’s not just for your own sake. You are guilty of something.
“I won’t be an exception to what my people want and believe. They now believe in the philosophy and the principle of APC.
The former governor said he plans to run for office again, saying, “The only election I would run for now is the Senate election.”
