Rabiu Kwankwaso, who ran for president in the past, called the National Convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) historic and a new step toward saving Nigeria.
Kwankwaso said in a post on his 𝕏 account on Wednesday that the convention that took place in Abuja on Tuesday proved that the ADC’s spirit cannot be broken.
The former Governor of Kano State, who was happy to be at the convention, said that the ADC is ready to run for and win the upcoming elections.
He also recognized David Mark’s leadership.
He said, “I was very happy to be with other party leaders and members at the historic ADC National Convention in Abuja.”
“The convention brought our great party together in one voice and one spirit that could not be broken—a firm promise to stay strong in our fight for a better, greater Nigeria.”
“I heartily congratulate the National Working Committee, led by David Mark, on successfully renewing their mandate.” With this new faith, I am sure that our party will win big in the days to come.
As was reported earlier, the ADC kicked out former Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Bala-Gombe and House of Representatives member Leke Abejide from the party on Tuesday.
They were kicked out for what they were said to have done against the party.
The faction led by former Senate President David Mark made the announcement during the party’s national convention in Abuja.
The Rainbow Events Centre hosted the convention, which drew in more than 3,000 delegates and political figures as the party stepped up its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The ADC, which is led by David Mark, also kicked Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu out of the party.
Senator Binos Yaroe, who represents Adamawa South, made the motion to kick them out at the convention. Delegates quickly seconded and passed the motion.
