On Friday morning, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), went to the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Wadata Plaza.
Senator Sam Anyanwu, the party’s National Secretary, is said to have welcomed the Minister.
Remember that a group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that supports Wike recently took over the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
It is known that they did this after the Nigeria Police opened the facility.
The PDP has been in a long-running leadership crisis. On November 18, things got so bad that order broke down at the party’s National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja. A faction of the National Working Committee led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and supported by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed clashed with the Wike-aligned Mohammed-led faction of the party.
The Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee (NWC) confirmed the unsealing and takeover in a statement from its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.
It said that any act that could cause trouble or violence would not be allowed.
The PDP, led by Mohammed, praised the Nigeria Police Force for being professional and following the law. They said that the move shows a strong respect for due process and constitutional order.
