The results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, which was administered on Friday, April 17, 2026, were delayed, and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has expressed regret.
After the board failed to fulfill its earlier commitment to announce the second batch of results on Saturday, the delay caused candidates to get irate.
The chief executive of the board was unavailable because of an important engagement, according to a statement released on Sunday by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin.
The message said, “We sincerely apologize for the delay in releasing the results for Friday, April 17th, which is the second batch in the series as earlier promised.”
Candidates were reassured by the board that the results would be released later on Sunday.
“We assure you that the results will be released later today, definitely before nightfall,” Benjamin said. “Our Chief Executive was unavailable due to an important engagement, but would be in the office today.”
Additionally, JAMB apologized to applicants who had to wait all night.
We also sincerely apologize to everyone who remained up late waiting for the release. “I appreciate your understanding and patience,” the statement continued.
This comes after the first set of results for those who took the test on Thursday, April 16, 2026, were released earlier.
632,788 results have already been made accessible, according to JAMB.
Candidates were instructed to use the phone number associated with their registration to send “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 in order to check their results via SMS.
