Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), says that a lot of politicians are interested in joining the party before the next elections.
He said this in an interview on Arise TV, where he called the PRP a good political choice and said that new members are welcome.
He said, “In the last three or four weeks, you won’t believe how many people have contacted us and said, ‘We’re coming to your party.'”
He says that the party is ready to welcome anyone who wants to join.
He said, “Anyone who wants to come in is welcome, whether they come alone or because the system has blocked and almost destroyed their party.”
Baba-Ahmed said that the party would have a much bigger role in the next few months.
He said that the growing interest shows that people trust the PRP.
“We see our role in the next few months as far, far greater than anything we have done before,” he said.
He said that people who join the party are not doing so out of desperation, but because they believe in its long-standing values.
“They’re not just coming here to escape politics.” He said, “They are coming because we are a party of principles.”
The head of the PRP said that the party is one of the oldest in the country.
“We’re about 70 years old.” He added, “We have always stood by certain principles.”
Baba-Ahmed said that time might be a problem in building momentum, but he was sure that the party would get through it.
He said, “We know Nigerians are ready for real change, real difference in how this country is run.”
Baba-Ahmed also said that the party is already talking to people who want to join and has set some basic rules for them to follow.
“They know they can come in. They know they can come in. “But we want them to join the party first before we talk to them,” he said.
