Ciroma Almajiri Joseph, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dropped out of the race for the Kaduna South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Joseph, who is better known as Hasken Southern Kaduna, also said he would support Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, who is currently in office.
In a statement dated April 20, 2026, the APC stalwart said that his choice came after talking to many family members, political allies, community leaders, and supporters in the district.
He said that the move was meant to bring the party together and keep politics stable in Southern Kaduna.
Joseph said he left because he was patriotic and politically mature, and he wanted to keep the APC together.
He said, “I have decided to step down from my goal under the APC and fully support the current Distinguished Senator, Sunday Marshall Katung, in his bid for a second term.”
He said that his long-term relationship with Katung, which has lasted more than 30 years, was a big reason for his choice.
The APC leader said that supporting the current government would help strengthen the work that is already being done under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
He said that he supported continuity because of important projects like the proposed Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan.
Joseph thanked his supporters in Southern Kaduna for being loyal and encouraging him throughout his political career.
He told them that even though he was no longer running, he would still work to improve the region.
He also told his supporters to back Katung’s second-term bid, which was in line with his decision.
He said that this would make sure that the senatorial district was always represented and that development happened faster.
Joseph promised to stay involved with the APC and continue his humanitarian and charitable work in Southern Kaduna.
