Dan Ulasi, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says that Peter Obi, who used to be the governor of Anambra State, has a better than 60% chance of becoming president of Nigeria.
Ulasi said this on Thursday while appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
Ulasi said that the growing political alignment between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate, is part of ongoing efforts to build national consensus before future elections.
Ulasi stressed that both Peter Obi and Kwankwaso have a lot of power in their own areas, and that working together could bring about a new era of growth and development for this country.
He said, “The Peter Obi, Kwankwaso effect is a part of the process we’re working on to connect people across this country.” In the North, you don’t just throw out the name Kwankwaso, and in the South, you don’t just throw out the name Peter Obi.
“So, if God is willing, the two of them will come together and one of them will become president, as we hope. It is an unwritten rule that the South will have eight years, and the North has had eight years under Buhari, so we have four more years to finish the southern term.
We are supporting Peter Obi because we believe that the idea of Peter Obi and Kwankwaso will lead to an exciting and strong political process that will bring about a new era of development and progress for this country.
