The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has dismissed reports of the burning of the residence of a factional leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala.
The clarification was made by the command’s public relations officer, Buhari Abdullahi, as reports filtered in that Bala’s family house in Gombe had been torched.
The Police have dismissed the report as false and have advised the public to disregard it.
The Gombe State Police Command has refuted the false report that Mr Nafiu Bala’s house was torched in Gombe State.
“The report is false as there is no such incident that has been recorded anywhere in the State,” said the Command.
The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, mnips, fwc, psc(+), has urged the general public to ignore this information and to remain calm as the Command is committed to providing peace and security in Gombe State at all times.
Meanwhile, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, said that neither David Mark nor Nafiu Bala has any right to the leadership of the party.
Kachikwu said this on Thursday while reacting to the Supreme Court ruling on the leadership crisis in the ADC, it was gathered.
The apex court had ordered Mark, factional national chairman of the ADC and Bala, a former national vice chairman of the party to return to the Federal High Court for hearing and determination of issues arising from the dispute.
Kachikwu said in a statement that the Supreme Court’s ruling to vacate an earlier order of the Court of Appeal asking parties to maintain the status quo did not validate any faction.
