The Kano State Government has alleged that the former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is indirectly working towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, made the claim on Wednesday during an appearance on the Arise TV Morning Show.
Bature said that recent political alignments and engagements across the country suggest behind-the-scenes arrangements that may shape the 2027 political landscape in favour of President Tinubu.
He said, “Kwankwaso is working indirectly or strategically for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.”
He also claimed that some opposition figures are holding political consultations that are undermining a united front ahead of the elections.
He said that it was unlikely that Kwankwaso and Obi would work together politically.
According to Bature, Kwankwaso hates Peter Obi and Peter Obi hates Kwankwaso.
“People with different political views and different ideologies cannot come together to win an election and govern a sophisticated country like Nigeria,” he said.
He argued that such political differences would make it difficult to collaborate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Bature also said former vice-presidential candidate Peter Obi might encounter political restrictions in Kano State owing to the conservative nature of the state’s political environment.
