Young Future Connect Launches to Empower Nigerian Youth with Skills, Mentorship, Jobs

A new youth-focused initiative, Young Future Connect (YFC), has been launched with the aim of equipping young Nigerians with practical skills, mentorship, career guidance, and employment opportunities to help them build successful futures.

Founded by Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert and powered by RUZU Foundation, the platform seeks to bridge the gap between young people’s aspirations and the opportunities available in today’s rapidly evolving labor market.

Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Dr. Robert explained that Young Future Connect is designed to identify, mentor, and expose youths to various career paths while helping them develop the skills needed to excel.

“We want to pull as many youths as possible away from the streets and position them to actualize their chosen careers. The platform will provide mentorship, practical skills, career guidance, and opportunities that can help them succeed,” he said.

According to him, the program will leverage both digital and physical learning models, with about 90 percent of the training sessions conducted online, allowing participants to learn from professionals across different industries regardless of their location.

The initiative will bring together experts from diverse fields, including journalism, digital marketing, content creation, software development, cybersecurity, data analysis, sports, hospitality, fashion, agribusiness, fintech, media and entertainment, among others.

Young Future Connect boasts a Board of Directors comprising professionals drawn from major and lucrative career sectors such as Sports, Hospitality, Travels and Tours, Software Development and Programming, Digital Marketing and Content Strategy, Cybersecurity, Data Analysis, Agribusiness, Financial Technology (FinTech) and Blockchain, Creative Arts, Media and Entertainment, Product Management and Business Development, Fashion and Microsoft-related technologies.

Dr. Robert said the program would expose participants to industry professionals who would provide mentorship and practical experience.

“For instance, if someone wants to become a journalist, content creator, actor, filmmaker, software developer, or digital marketer, we will bring professionals in those fields to train and mentor them. The idea is to help them discover whether that career path truly suits them and give them a strong foundation to pursue it successfully,” he explained.

Beyond training, the initiative plans to partner with corporate organisations and institutions to offer certifications, internships, and employment opportunities to participants.

“We are going to engage companies in different sectors and institutions, *including Polythincs and universities* Participants will not only learn but will also have opportunities for internships and jobs. For those interested in hospitality, media, acting, sports, and other sectors, we already have contacts and networks that can expose them to opportunities,” he added.

The founder further revealed that exceptional participants would be identified and supported to pursue advanced career development opportunities, including professional certifications and specialised training.

As part of the program’s sustainability model, Young Future Connect will also introduce digital entrepreneurship and marketing initiatives, enabling participants to earn income while learning.

“We want to create a system where young people can start making money even before they enter higher institutions or while they are still pursuing their education. We will provide them with digital marketing skills and create opportunities for them to promote brands and earn commissions from their efforts,” Dr. Robert stated.

The program will commence with an online registration process, after which successful applicants will be integrated into dedicated WhatsApp groups and channels for orientation and learning.

Subsequently, a physical orientation event will be organised, bringing together participants and industry professionals for networking, mentorship, and career guidance sessions.

Dr. Robert described Young Future Connect as more than just a skill acquisition platform.

“It is a foundation that makes the pursuit of one’s career easier. There will be direction, mentorship, and opportunities. We want to become a pillar for youth development and help shape a generation of future leaders and professionals,” he said.
