Fabiyi, it was said, was kidnapped along with a driver and another associate while on their way to deliver ransom and other items for the release of an earlier kidnap victim.

The team was said to be carrying about ₦30 million, five motorcycles and three bags of rice when they were attacked by armed men in the area, sources said.

The ransom delivery was reportedly tied to efforts to secure the release of a victim who was kidnapped earlier in the neighborhood.

The earlier victim was allegedly killed by the kidnappers before the ransom team arrived but those sent to deliver the items were not aware of the development, a source familiar with the incident was quoted as saying.

Reports said the abductors led the team into a forested route connecting Kwara and Kogi states where they seized them at gun point.

It was learnt that the incident was not immediately reported to the security agencies.

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, when contacted said the command was yet to be formally informed of any kidnapping involving an OPC member as at the time of inquiry.

He said the police would investigate when they receive an official report.
